Welcome to the Parents' Area
OSCAR (Out of School Care and Recreation) programmes are After School, Before School and School Holiday Programmes for children aged between 5 and 13. OSCAR programmes provide children with numerous opportunities that assist them to develop physically, socially, creatively, emotionally, academically and culturally while simply playing and having fun in a free, but safe environment. As a parent, OSCAR offers you safety and security for your children; peace of mind; networking opportunities and most importantly of all - happy kids!
This site includes information on why we need OSCAR services; what to look for in an OSCAR programme and what happens in an OSCAR programme. Child Youth and Family Standards for Approval for OSCAR Programmes are the only nationally recognised set of standards specifically for OSCAR programmes. We can help you find programmes in your area that meet these Standards.
You may be eligible to receive an OSCAR subsidy through Work and Income. Go to this area to find out about criteria, thresholds and how you go about applying for this useful subsidy.
We hope both your children and you enjoy your OSCAR experience.
