Funding For OSCAR Programmes
The Ministry of Social Development (MSD) pay OSCAR funding to organisations providing before school, after school or school holiday programmes for 5 to 13 year olds.
Changes to the Spring 2010 MSD OSCAR Assistance Funding
If your MSD OSCAR Assistance Funding is due to expire on 31 December 2010
- You do not have to reapply for funding this Spring 2010 funding round
- You will be offered an extension directly by Ministry of Social Development
- Your
current level of funding will continue for a six months period only
(Jan 2011 - Jun 2011). This is to align with Ministry of Social
Development financial year and to enable a new funding allocation model
to start from July 2011. The OSCAR Foundation is not yet aware of what this new funding model will be.
If you are a first time applicant or were declined in the previous MSD OSCAR Assistance Funding round
- You can apply for Assistance Funding
- The
Assistance Funding will cover a six months period only (Jan 2011 - Jun
2011). This is to align with the Ministry of Social Development
financial year and to enable a new funding allocation model to start
from July 2011.The OSCAR Foundation is not yet aware of what this new funding model will be.
- The Assistance Funding applications are online and you can download them here. We will not be sending printed copies of the Assistance Funding applications.

If you are 2 years approved
OSCAR Development Funding If you are setting up a new OSCAR programme you can apply for a one-off OSCAR Development Grant of up to $3,000. This is to help with initial set up costs and to gain Child, Youth and Family OSCAR Approval.
Important Point A Development Funding application cannot be submitted at the same time as an Assistance Funding application. We recommend you contact the Funding Coordinator for Development Funding deadlines prior to the Assistance Funding deadlines.
OSCAR Assistance Funding OSCAR Assistance Funding is paid to help you with the day to day costs of running your OSCAR programme. The amount you can receive is based on your programmes level of need. The maximum amount you can apply for each year is $16,000 per programme.
Eligibility To be eligible for Assistance Funding, programmes need meet the following criteria;
- Be CYF Approved for OSCAR Services;
- Operate 5 days per week;
- Receive income from parent fees or contributions;
- Demonstrate a need for funding to improve the programmes sustainability and quality.
In addition:
- Before school programmes must also operate for at least 5 hours per week during the school term
- After school programmes must also operate for at least 10 hours per week during the school term
- Holiday programmes must also operate for at least 30 hours per week, operate for at least 4 weeks per year, and operate for each holiday period.
