The Peter Heaslip Scholarship Grant is a $1000 Scholarship Grant to be awarded to a person employed within the OSCAR Sector, who demonstrates enhanced professionalism from training, which has resulted in an enrichment in the life or lives of a particular child or children, to be used to further professionalism in the OSCAR sector.
History The Peter Heaslip Scholarship Grant is an OSCAR Foundation Board initiative. Peter Heaslip’s name was chosen to acknowledge his efforts in the OSCAR sector. Peter was Chairperson of The OSCAR Foundation Board from 2002 to 2006 and is still an active Board member today. Peter, through the Board and working closely with the CEO, has contributed to developments and acheivements such as the MSD’s 5-year action plan and the Open Polytechnic’s new 40 credit OSCAR Certificate. Peter gave his blessing for his name to be used in this way. He supported the idea of the fund being used to support training as long as there was a demonstrable way to show that the training had enriched childhood. The Board established the Peter Heaslip Scholarship Grant and decided it was to be presented at The OSCAR Foundation National Conference. A Committee, comprising of Peter Heaslip, Murray Upton, Tina Green and Karen Morgan was established to fine tune and oversee this initiative.
